"Vietnam's newly discovered Nam Rong-Doi Moi oilfield
is expected to produce about 15,000 barrels of oil per day by
2010. The oil field is located 135 km (84 miles) southeast of

"Vietnam automobile sales nearly doubled to more than
80,000 units last year compared to 2006, driven by a 128 percent
rise in demand for passenger cars, manufacturers said Tuesday.
Toyota topped the list of 17 manufacturers who make or assemble
automobiles in the country with over 20,000 domestically-assembled
units sold, followed by Truong Hai, GM Daewoo and Vinaxuki.
Total auto sales increased to 80,392 units from January to December,
up 97 percent compared to the previous year, the Vietnam Automobile
Manufacturers' Association (VAMA) said in a report. In December
2007 alone, sales volume reached 12,006 units, up 96 percent
compared to the same month of 2006. Communist Vietnam, a emerging
economy with 8.5 percent growth last year, moved from bicycles
to motorcycles in the 1990s and is now seeing a rise in car
ownership, especially in cities, despite high import tariffs."

"Sembcorp¡¯s industrial parks joint venture, Vietnam Singapore
Industrial Park and Township Development Joint Stock Company
(VSIP JSC) kick-start the construction of the 700 hectare Vietnam
Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) located in Bac Ninh Province,
North Vietnam , the third VSIP project in Vietnam and first
in Northern Vietnam. Fifteen companies have already taken up
130 hectares of land for production and commercial development.
Amongst these companies are the component suppliers to notable

"Japan's Canon company, invested $100 million in a laser
printer factory in Thang Long Industrial Park in Ha Noi, will
invest $100 million in a new factory in Bac Ninh Province. The
additional investment will make Vietnam Canon's largest laser
printer units, with a manufacturing production capacity of 700,000
products per month or, 80% of the company's annual output."

"Taiwanese firm Hon Hai (also known by the trade name
Foxconn) plans to invest $5 billion in a plant located in the
northern provinces of Bac Ninh (40km north of Hanoi) and Bac
Giang designed to make electronic equipment. The project is
expected to earn export revenue of $3.5 billion a year and provide
