MTA Vietnam2007 wraps another year of success with brisk sales

Singapore, 16 July 2007 ¨C MTA Vietnam2007, the third Vietnam International Precision Engineering, Machine Tools and Metalworking Exhibition & Conference, has wrapped up to a rousing success.

A total of 8728 visitors thronged the halls at the Ho Chi Minh International Exhibition and Convention Centre (HIECC) to check out the largest gathering of international brand names from the industry. A total of 433 exhibiting companies, of which 83% were from overseas, filled the entire exhibition centre with machines and technologies from their countries / regions.

Visitors were all praise as they feasted their eyes on the most relevant manufacturing solutions all aimed at raising the bar of excellence for Vietnam¡¯s manufacturing sector.

For first time visitor Mr Makoto Usami, General Director of Nissei Plastic (Vietnam) Co. Ltd, the show was a beneficial and useful experience which he could draw upon long after his return. ¡°This is my first time visiting the show and I am impressed to see so many exhibitors, new innovations and unique concepts¡±, he said.

The largest and most reputable names in the industry also turned out in full force to impress visitors. Agie Charmilles, Brother, Carl Zeiss, Citizen, Doosan Infracore, Fanuc, Finn-Power, Geka, Hexagon Metrology, Hurco, Mazak, Mitsubishi Electric, Mori Seiki, Nikon, Okamoto, Renishaw, TRUMPF, Salvagnini, Seco Tools, System 3R, Walter Ag, and Sodick, amongst others, were also present.

Exhibitors also cited strong sales and abundant business opportunities available at MTA Vietnam2007. AsiaMac Machinery sold its EuroMac and Geka machines to a Singapore company based in Vietnam, while Agie Charmilles also clinched a deal with a local Vietnamese company during the show.

Edward Yuen, General Manager / Chief Representative of TRUMPF Vietnam, said: "The business opportunities provided are immeasurable. At this year's MTA Vietnam, we showcased the TruPunch 1000 - a CNC Punching, Nibbling and Forming Machine which was well-received by the local industries. We expect strong sales for this model and TRUMPF's many other high-end series of machines with anticipated sales of over US$5 million to be concluded".

This sentiment was also echoed by Mori Seiki, ¡°This year, we featured one of our latest machine, the CNC Lathe DuraTurn 2030 and it met with strong interest from the Vietnamese manufacturing industry. We have had a rewarding time at MTA Vietnam and our estimated sales is US$4 million.¡± Said Mr Y. Nakamura, Regional Manager, Mori Seiki Singapore Pte Ltd.

Other exhibitors, like Yamazaki Mazak Singapore, took this opportunity to strengthen relationships and create new business opportunities. ¡°This is the third time that Yamazaki Mazak Singapore is exhibiting at MTA Vietnam and good chance for us to announce our new representative office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. We are pleased with the turnout and met with new customers and existing customers at the show. We are most certain that post show sales will follow¡±, said Mr Takumi Nogawa, Sales, Yamazaki Mazak Singapore Pte Ltd.

MTA Vietnam was also touted as the key event for companies looking for a footing into the Vietnamese market in an organised and efficient manner. Managing Director from ATASMI Precision Machinist Sdn Bhd, Mr Albert Cheng, sums up this point best by saying; ¡°This is a very well-established and professionally organised platform for any entry into Vietnam¡±.

Over at the MTA Vietnam Automotive Manufacturing Conference, delegates were provided with useful insights into the major implications after Vietnam¡¯s admission into the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the challenges, and prospects on what lay ahead. The conference featured two presentations by the Ministry of Industry, as well as a procurement paper by Vietnam¡¯s leader in motor vehicles, industrial manufacturing and transportation services, SAMCO.

Mr Tran Quoc Toan, Deputy General Director of SAMCO said, ¡°SAMCO is glad to be part of MTA Vietnam 2007. Speaking at the conference as a state-owned company to champion the growing development of Vietnam's automotive manufacturing industry is indeed meaningful and we hope to encourage many local SMEs and OEMs to step in readily. This event is truly international and is an excellent sourcing platform to meet our procurement needs¡±. Mr Tran also revealed that the organisation had allocated a portion of their purchasing budget specifically for MTA Vietnam.

Next year, MTA Vietnam will move to Hanoi for its 2008 edition, from the 9th to the 12th of July at the Giang Vo Exhibition & Fairground.

¡°Exhibitors and visitors at MTA Vietnam 2008 will continue to benefit from the show¡¯s quality and professionalism, and with the positive outlook in Vietnam¡¯s economy, we are sure it will continue to grow into yet another success,¡± said Mr. William Lim, SES¡¯s Project Director of MTA Vietnam.
