The Dominant Event in
Vietnam’s Manufacturing Industry
Held at a brand new venue; Saigon Exhibition &
Convention Center (SECC) in District 7 of Ho Chi Minh City,
MTA VIETNAM2009 gave visitors a whole new experience for
Vietnam’s manufacturing industries.
MTA VIETNAM2009’s statistics:
- Over 226 exhibiting companies from over
21 countries / regions,
- 9 International Group Pavilions from
Germany, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand and
- 5,550 square meters of exhibition space with 81%
overseas exhibiting companies.
Vietnam is reported to be an emerging market and an
attractive investment destination (Vietnam Business Forum,
VCCI, July 27th 2009). Ho Chi Minh City ranks 2nd in Vietnam’s
FDI attraction (Vietnam Business Forum, VCCI, July 10th 2009).
Recognizing this trend, MTA VIETNAM2009 brought to
International and Vietnamese exhibiting companies the ideal
platform to meet potential trade buyers.

Action
Seeing was indeed believing. Visitors witnessed many latest
innovations such as 3D printing machines, laser machines,
threading and boring machines, die-casting machines and many
more New products, New services, First Time in Asia and
Launches in Vietnam which were on display by leaders of the
machine and tools industry.

Attractions
Global manufacturing companies have made great
contributions to Vietnam’s industrial section, especially in
Ho Chi Minh City in terms of bringing in modern technology,
skilled workers and improving infrastructures, just to list a
few (Vietnam Business Forum – VCCI, July 7th 2009).
International companies are actively exploring investment
opportunities in Vietnam, while Ho Chi Minh City welcomes big
groups to come. MTA VIETNAM2009 was pleased to be able to
bring nine international group pavilions from Germany, Korea,
Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand who wanted to intensify
their business presence in the country.
Addressing the Economic
Woes
As the world economy recession affects businesses around
the world, the Vietnam government plans to offer loans to
businesses in order to stimulate economic growth (Vietnam
Business Forum – VCCI, July 22nd 2009 & July 2nd 2009).
With the government’s involvement in restructuring its
economy, tapping into local talents to attract domestic and
international investments is vital for investment
opportunities (Vietnam Business Forum – VCCI, May 27th
2009).
Addressing these issues, MTA VIETNAM2009 brought in the
following banks to assist in any finance enquires and to offer
their services on loans and credit facilities:
- Vietinbank (Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade)
- Techcombank (Technology and Commercial Bank)
- VIBank (Vietnam International Bank)
MTA VIETNAM2009 also featured technological and skills
application training courses for Vietnam’s manufacturing
industry through its Skills Development Center. Participating
universities and college were Sai Gon Technology University,
Nguyen Tat Thanh College and Ho Chi Minh City University of
Technology.
The show was well visited by 7,270 trade visitors over four
days from 8 – 11 July 2009 with over 100 group delegations.
Groups came from relevant industrial parks in host city Ho
Chi Minh City and neighbouring provinces such as Ba-Ria
Vung-Tau, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and many more.
